I am a Mac and Parallels user since both porducts exist. I use a MacBookPro (2.2) 2,16 Mhz with 3 GB Ram. Installed is 10.5.8 Since my update to 10.5.6 I have been plagued with problems when I try to shut down my MBP. I upgraded and reinstalled my OX sofware and all other programs that I use in my lectures, classes and my practice. The problem continued. Upon looking at my Konsole spreadsheet I noticed that the only program that always reappeared when i tried to shut down was Parallels. I finally removed Parallels and the computer started and shutdown inside of 5 seconds instead of 1-2 minutes.

I need Paralles for my Practice and my lectures. Help

How much memory have you assigned to your VM, how much to Parallels overall (if not "Auto")? If Parallels resp. the VM is taking up a significant amount of RAM on your Mac, the Mac will start putting some data from memory to the hard disk. When you then quit Parallels it'll take some time for the Mac to re-organise its memory. The less memory you give Parallels resp. your VM, the happier your Mac will be.

Hello Shadam, sorry that i am taking so long in answering. I changed the VM value, no luck, re-installed from scratch, no luck, removed some extensions that I thoght may be in conflict with Parallels, no luck. I am at a loss as to what I can do to solve this problem. Any other suggestions??

    Thanks Donald
