Hello all - new Parallels User here... I have a MacBook Pro 13" (1280 x 800). I often need to use Parallels to connect to customer VPNs within a Guest OS running XP Pro, and then remote desktop into the targeted machines. Some of the software that we use on these machines is very picky about screen resolutions - so if the application I am troubleshooting remotely was developed with a resolution of 1280 x 1024, I must remote desktop into that machine at that same resolution. So far I have been abled to go into Full Screen mode within Parallels and change my resolution to 1280 x 1024, which works fine - except I am given scroll bars to account for the lack of resolution in my host (makes sense). I am wondering if there is a way within Parallels to force these larger resolutions to scale down graphically to eliminate the scroll bars (whilst maintaining the 1280 x 1024 resolution). The Windows RDP Client for the Mac has this feature (called Fit to Window). Thanks!
Try Modality view. By default, this is a tiny, transparent, but live view of your VM desktop. Set the transparency to 0 (Parallels Preferences), switch to Window view, set the desired resolution, switch to Modality view, and drag the window by its lower right corner to the desired size. That'll give you a scaled-down version of a larger-than-screen-size VM desktop. (If you alt-drag, you'll be able to alter the aspect ratio... not recommended.) Good luck!
