I've seen this asked at least 5 times on this forum and there is never an answer so here goes for a sixth time.

How do we get Parallels 5 to use the native video card rather than the Parallels Adaptor? I am trying to run MoI3D in Windows 7 and need to upgrade the Nvidia drivers to view images. Of course it refuses to do this because it has no clue what the Parallels Adaptor is rather than seeing my actual Nvidia card.

In similar questions people have alluded to being able to do this, so come on Parallels, answer someone's post for once.

    Thanks
    Sean

It won't work because technically you aren't using an nvidia card under windows - it's software emulation of hardware. The Parallels Adapter captures and translates what Windows does and then redraws it via OSX.

3d acceleration does the same thing translating Direct3d (WIndows) to OpenGL (osx) which is then run on the 3d card under OSX.

Unfortunately, anything that requires specific hardware (most hardware that's not USB) won't work in this manner. Boot Windows natively.

RE: no reponse.. it's been my experience than Parallels doesn't answer if there isn't a favorable outcome to the question.
