Hi, Im running 32Bit Windows 7 via Parallels(not Bootcamp method). I have the Imac 27", 3.06hgz with 4Gig Ram & wondered if I splashed out on another 4gig would this significantly improve the performance when running apps in Windows 7 via Parallels, or would I be wasting my money ? thanks in advance Graham
It's a question of how much Ram you'd like to assign to your VM. That, in turn, depends on what you'd like to do with it. On a 4 gig machine you should be able to assign about 2 gig to the VM. Windows 7 32 bit can't use more than 3.5 gig max. So, frankly, I believe you won't improve your VM speed much by adding more Ram to your Mac. From personal observations I think the best hardware invest to speed up the VM is the fastest hard drive you can lay your hands on.
Thanks for the reply - i am trying to use adobe cs4 (unfortunately I would have to transfer my Adobe license to mac, which isnt practical at the minute)which is proving a bit slow within the my current parallels environment. Would a quicker way be to install Win 7 in bootcamp and link using parallels ?
