Anyone know how to resolve this? Trying to enable the iPhone connection option in preferences under the latest version of Parallels 5 under OS X 10.6.3. Anyone else get this error when trying to enable it? Regards, Kristin.
Hi, theboyk. I think that the following document serves as a reference for you. http://kb.parallels.com/en/8189/ All the best.
Yea, no, that didn't work either. I've tried everything — reinstalling Parallels (twice in a week now), I've even wiped my HD and completely reinstalled OS X 10.6.3 from scratch (because of that damned install but in Parallels 5) and still nothing worked. I'd hoped this KB article would have solved this issue when I came across it, but alas, yet something else that doesn't work in Parallels. I thought running/supporting Windows was enough of a pain on its own...now Parallels adds to that pain.
Same prob here I'm on a 27" iMac quadcore (i5) with 10.6.3 and trying to launch the iphone service after the second clean reinstall of latest PD 5. I've tried manually linking the iphone proxy app as the KB document describes. All output i get from this is "File exists" (so the symbolic link isn't created again in the target directory) and no change in behaviour of the iphone tab options under preferences, only "Unable to start the iPhone service.". Under PD 5.0.92xx the iphone service worked for me as usual. Any other hint?
I don't understand why you don't search this forum for your topic before you post a new thread ! Some clever folks already found some workarounds for this bug and these temporary solutions are very helpful !
rmattern, i have searched the forum several times for "iphone", "iphone service", "iphone server" in conjunction with Parallels Desktop 5 and found nothing else. As i mentioned i tried the fix in the quoted KnowledgeBase article with no effort. Can you please be so kind to advice us to your "workarounds" or "temporary solutions"? That would be brilliant.
http://forum.parallels.com/showthread.php?t=100212 I was able to manage my virtuell machines via Parallel Apps via iPod touch after I learned about these workarounds.
