Hi - I have XP SP3 installed in Parallels and need to print things from parallels (am on late 2009 iMac; Printer is HP Officejet Pro K550; shared printing is enabled and connected to router)

I have tried using the Bonjour method in XP - this works fine and installs the printer, and items are added to the print queue, but it does not print. Printer does not have "Ready" status in Control Panel.

I have tried just "adding" a printer in XP but it needs a particular .gpd file from a CD which I don't have access to (even online)

It cannot find the printer on the network, so I cannot install it as a network printer. This may be because I connect to the internet through the iMac (I think "bridged" hosting or something)

In Parallels configuration panel, it can see the printer and recognises it as ready/online.

I am now stuck - please help / suggestions for how to get the printer to print.

    Thanks in advance )

The easiest method to print from Parallels is to use the printer driver that Parallels uses to send print jobs to the Mac default printer. That printer is a HP Colour Laserjet 2800 Series PS. Any print job sent to that printer will then be forwarded to your Mac.

For some reason, the first print job I do during a Parallels session gets swallowed up somewhere so I need to send it again. From then on everything goes fine.

Thanks for that - turns out I needed to use the HP Colour Laserjet 8500 PS and it sent it to the Mac default printer, and worked fine! It was already installed with parallels tools, but I had deleted it! :s So just reinstalled the printer ^^ and everything worked fine :D

    Thanks anyway
