When he first logs into Windows, he gets an error message that reads (approx):

"The ordinal 101 could not be located in the dynamic link library WSOCK32.dl. "

I just click OK and continue.

When I attempt to install Parallels Tools, I get the error message:

"An error [-5011 : 0x800011!!] has occured while running the setup.

Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occurs, please conatact your vendor: [www.parallels.com]"

This is right after a reboot, every time. I have updated to the latest build for 3.0 (5584) which also did not help.

Thank you very much for any information regarding this...

P.S. This all started when his Sharing with the Mac shared folder stopped working and I was attempting to get the folder sharing working again, which in my experience is usually fixed by re-installing the Parallels Tools. I now MUST re-install the tools since I updated to the new build... so now I'm stuck.

    Hello Socokid,

Please uninstall Parallels Tools this way:

    1. Boot Windows in Safe Mode by hitting F8 (Fn+F8) during its boot screen.
Go to "My Computer" - "C" Drive - "Program Files" - "Parallels" folder and delete the "Parallels Tools" folder.
    2. Click the Windows "Start" menu -> "Run" and type "regedit". Hit OK.
    3. In Registry Editor, go to "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and delete the "Parallels Tools" entry.
    4. Reboot Windows

Reinstall Parallels Tools from the "Actions" menu on the Parallels Desktop menubar when Windows is running.

    Best regards,
    Xenos

I am not able to install parallels tools. When I look in C/programtools, Parallels is not even a folder on XP (I can see if on my mac library folder, but can't access it through paralles/XP). I can not get online nor can I use coherence or crystal view mode with parallels either. I was having the same issues with Windows 7, so I uninstalled windows 7 and reinstalled XP. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you may need to mount the parallels tools image in the VM first.
