Every time when I startup my computer - Parallels Service.app wants to connect to gs1.wpc.edgecastcdn.net. How can I to disable this behavior? It is also strange to me, that the Parallels Service.app is not in Applications as usual - I found it to be installed in Library on OSX. I think, it also causes conflicts - because when I have the Mail application opened - Mail crashes from time to time when Parallels wants to connect.
Parallels Service.app wants to connect home to a) check for updates and b) to see whether the serial is valid. There's a knowledge base article here somewhere. It is located where Parallels (and its various support files) expect it to be. (There are many applications on your Mac that don't live in the Applications folder.) However, Parallels Service shouldn't cause Mail to crash. At least I haven't heard elsewhere that this happens. Try repairing your permissions, that sometimes helps.
Thanks for your info! Yes, I should not blame Parallels for crashing Mail - it could have been also some other process. What I do not understand is the fact, that I cannot disable Parallels in the Mac startup items, because Parallels does not show up. Parallels wants to connect also when I am logging in as a different user - where I never established a Virtual Machine. I start up and shut down my Mac serveral times during the day - I dont want to have the machine active day and night - sorry, I could not find any hints concerning this theme in the knowledge base!
