I have Snow Leopard and have had VMware Fusion as a VM for a year or so. Last week I downloaded Parallels Desktop 5 as part of a MacUpdate bundle. When I used Transporter to import the Fusion VM, it did not import any of my Windows programs or Windows files. How do I get them to show up in Parallels? I can't find any step-by-step instructions. Help!
Hi MelanieH, are you sure you did not perform clean Windows installation in Parallels Desktop virtual machine? Looks like it. Parallels Transporter documentation can be found here . Additionally, please make sure that Guest OS and VMware version are supported by Parallels Transporter: link .
Is there a way to transport just programs and files from VMware Fusion to Parallels without uninstalling it and starting over? If not, what is the procedure for uninstalling Parallels?
Hi MelanieH, Using Parallels Transporter, you cannot migrate only installed applications and files from VMware VM to Parallels Desktop VM. There are 2 options: 1. migrate entire VM with Windows, files, setting and applications to Parallels Desktop virtual machine 2. copy important files from VMware VM to Mac HD or external drive, install Windows in new Parallels Desktop VM and move copied files to it
