I am trying to backup many gigs worth of files from a computer I want to do a reinstall on and I am networking over to my Parallels Guest OS (windows xp) shortly into the process I ran out of space. I realized that my Guest Windows OS has only a fraction of space dedicated to it vs my regular Mac OS10 space. So here are my questions: 1) Is there a way to transfer files from my guest OS to my regular OS and if so how? 2) Is there a way to designate more disc space to my guest OS and if so how do I do it? Thanks for any help on this one.. I could not find in FAQs David
This is all completely covered in the documentation that came with your Parallels software. Have a look at the PDF files. They are on your hard drive as it is appropriate to the version you have installed. If you can't find them, then mount the Parallels dmg file and explore it with Finder. If that fails too, then go here: http://www.parallels.com/en/products/desktop/datasheet/ If that doesn't work then contact [email protected]. If you are using a beta version then contact [email protected], but don't expect an answer.
I tried reading through the manual .... Is the info found on managing the virtual machine? Also tried accessing the config editor through the file tab, but it is grayed out... can you point me in the right direction?
Dear Jerubaal I don't know but i do not see the reason to resize my window (VM), I just create a share folder and map drive (like H drive) and as far as I can see, all ~ 90G was availiable to me. furthermore, if VM goes bad, i still have all my files in the share folder on OSX side... Good luck...
Hi John, Thanks for responding. Yours sounds like the best way to go. Is the map drive and share folder creation in the users manual? David
Dear David Yes.. it was on my 3160.. and there is a lot of posting for how to create share folders... if you have any difficulty let me know.. I'll walk you through... J
