Unfortunately, I dropped a video I downloaded on the Mac side into Parallels and viewed the video through Parallels. I'm pretty sure the video had virus on it, and it crashed my windows, and I can't get XP running again. I'm on the black startup screen, and the error message says Windows did not start successfully, due to a recent hardware or software change. I've tried in safe mode, etc but no luck. Am I doomed or is there some software that may be able to bring this back?
    Thanks

I know, I know, dumb move

Reinstall windows and then make a backup of the VM on a cd/dvd. The next time this happens you can delete the infected VM and run a copy of the backup. This ability is the principal reason for running Windows in a VM - they're expendable.

"dkp" that's a great idea because my windoze installs are always getting hosed. Is there an instruction somewhere on exactly how this should be done? I dont see any back-up info in my copy of the manual except for the "clone VM" thing. Is that the best way to create a backup copy?

You need only copy the virtual machine folder and all contents to another location (cd, preferrably). The folders for vm/s are in your home directory under Library/Parallels. Doesn't take anything more fancy than Finder.

Nice note and explanation. You might want to post a version of this in the "How To" forum as a reference.

Oooo...yes that's simple.....except that there is no Parallels folder at all in my home/library folder! There is a "root"/library/parallels folder but it only contains the following folders:
    Bugreports
    Help
    License.txt
    Tools
Is this as strange as it seems?

    Thanx

OK...wait...I found it but it's in my home/documents folder, not in the library folder (???)
    DD:confused:
