Hi there, I am new here and trying to find out if Paralles is for me or not. I am using an iMac Intel Core2Duo 2.4 with 4GB RAM and I am running Samplitude 11 on a 40GB Windows XP Home Parition (bootcamp). Everything runs smoothly - the only thing that really bugs me is the rebooting when going back to OSX. Now my question: Has anyone here tried to run Sampllitude 11 on Parallels Desktop 5 on a similar system? How about CPU usage for Parallels? How about firewire connectivity, especially to the Focusrite Saffire Audio Interface? Hope to hear back from you!
Interesting.. I'll let you know! I saw Samp Producer 11 just came out and the features look very cool given the price. I'm using Music Studio 14/15 (afaict the v16 turned into Producer v11) under Windows but I haven't tried it under a Parallels install yet. Will take me some time, but I'll definitely reply back with my results.
Both Samp 11 Producer (used demo) and my Samp Music Studio install and run great under Parallels (Win 7 x64). However, I wasn't able to get my Alesis io26 (8ch + external 8ch over firewire) working through Parallels, but I kind of expected that it would not work. I've seen reports of some firewire interfaces working so I'm going to still work on it a bit. If worst comes to worst, I can always record my tracks in Garageband and then work on them under the VM. I love GB for that.. dead simple multi track recording. I was able to get my 2 channel Behringer USB audio input working (dedicate it to the VM, not the OSX host). I put a mixer in front to even out all the impedances and recording worked fine in that case. If you're mainly working with loops it'll run fine. If you want to get some hardware working with it, USB seemed to work for me.
