I'm running Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac, build 5.0.9308, on a 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro with 4 GB of memory. Whenever I start up Parallels for the first time after a reboot, it starts up fine, but then, when I elect to start up my Windows 7 virtual machine, Parallels, after a minute or so, hangs. While Parallels is stuck there, I can hear, in the background, the Windows 7 startup chime. If I then force-quit Parallels and restart Parallels again, Parallels starts up with the Windows 7 login screen showing from the get-go, and I can then simply login to Windows 7 and all is fine from that point forward.

I have been dealing with this bug/problem for months. It's just an annoyance, as the work-around described above has (so far) always worked, but I sure would like to see it fixed. When I saw that Build 5.0.9308 of Parallels was released, I installed it right away expecting that doing so would make my problem go away. It's still there, and is as annoying as ever.

I'm having this problem too. For me it's on an iMac 27" with 8GB memory and 64bit Windows 7. But I haven't figured out when it works and when it doesn't. It hangs sometimes when I start it first time after a reboot. For me it started when I installed 5.0.9310 I think.

    Anyone who has a solution?

Problem persists for many of us

The powers-that-be at Parallels must have paid some attention to this thread because they have deleted the many subsequent posts to my original message indicating that many of us are having this same problem. But the problem persists and, except for deleting those posts, all indications are that the Parallels staff has done precisely nothing to address it.
