    Hi,
I have searched through this forum but cannot find the answer.
I have two installs in my Parallels 5 VM.
I started using XP with Office 2003 and some more progs.
After that I installed Windows 7 with office 2007 and have it fully working now.
How do I claim the HD space back from the old XP install ?
I fear I will loose files that are needed for Win7/office2007 when I simply remove the WinXP.pvm file.
What can I do to make it a safe removal and get the 33.6Gb back ?
    Thanks,
    H.

    Hi hmolen,
basically, you should move all important files from Win XP to Windows 7 virtual machine. This can be done by several ways:
    1. Using shared profile, copy necessary files from Windows to Mac side, then move them to Windows 7
    2. copy necessary files from Windows XP VM to external drive, to use them later in Win 7 VM

Very nice but I have a full backup of my system so all I want is to find out how to simply remove my XP pvm.
Do I login to it and remove all data/programs and then is there a tool in Parallels that executes:
    - Remove .pvm
or do I drag it to the waste bin ?
What will be left behind in OS/X if I do it this way ?

To name an example, all my outlook .pst files are stored in a separate folder in OS/X, when I uninstall outlook in XP those files will remain there but I want to be 100% sure.
So, if I remove the .PVM only, I will not touch that directory right ?
This way I am sure all important files are left alone, cannot think of any "important" file in the .PVM for XP....
or, is my assumption not right ?

    Hi hmolen,
sorry for delayed reply. If you do not need a virtual machine any more, have full backup and, more importantly, your .pst files are stored on Mac OS X side, you can remove virtual machine from virtual machines list and select Move to Trash option to delete it completely. Just in case, I would recommend you to duplicate .pst files on another location on Mac hard drive, just to be sure.

    Remove VM for XP

    I do need a VM but today I have 2 VM's, 1 Windows 7 and 1 Windows XP.
I need to get rid of XP.
    I will:
    - Backup
    - Move .pst files
    - Remove Virtual Machine (XP) from the list.

THIS WILL KEEP MY Win7 INSTALLATION 100% WORKING, RIGHT ?

    Hans.

Uninstall xp and install windows 7 on imac

I don't know how to post a new thread. I have xp installed. I want to uninstall it and install windows 7. I have Parallels 8 installed on an imac 10.8. How can I do this? I have nothing important on the current xp so I would be just as happy to start over again to avoid failing to eliminate old xp files.
    Thanks.
