I've been away from Paralles since beta testing 5.0 and have been using VMwares's 3.0.x with XP and Win7 and ubuntu images. I'm seriously thinking of switching back but I can't really rebuild the WinXP or Win7 images because they were snapshot and built off of laptops I no longer have. Is there any way to post VMware images to parallels 5 ? If there is, is it some convoluted process or is it straight forward? After seeing some of the graphics abilities etc of Parallels 5 I'm giving serious thought to switching back to it from VMware's Fusion but only if I can bring these images with me, I have to because they are images of my work laptops that I run on my MacBook Pro , but I no longer have the physical laptops. Any help would be greatly appreciated TIA, Peter
I just converted my vmware 3.x windows 7 to Parallels 5.0. I used the built conversion routine that come up on startup. I made a copy of my vmware VM before so that if something went wrong, I would not loose my ability to stick with VMWare Fusion. The conversion went flawlessly other than needing to reactivate windows since it thought I changed too many drivers. One call to MS to read all those numbers and I have been up and running.
