What is the program "vrl_pm_app", and why does it cause 100% or more of cpu usage for minutes on end, even when windows xp is just sitting in the background? I have posed this question before and would appreciate a response from the Parallels tech people. (MacBook Pro OS 10.5.8, Windows XP pro SP3, Parallels v4) Tom
It's the VM itself. If it's very active even though Windows appears to be doing nothing it may be busy swapping virtual memory within Windows. Try reducing the VM's memory.
I had this same problem with 4GB RAM. I've informed Parallels support, we tried changing a few settings but ultimately the same performance hit kept happening. I've now upgraded my MBPro to 8GB RAM (4GB to MAC, 4GB to VM) and I can finally say the problem has gone away - albeit a somewhat expensive solution!
