I am attempting to convert a Virtual PC 2007 VHD to Parallel. This is a Windows Server 2003 .vhd, about 19gb in size. Everything seems to go fine, the OS starts in Parallels and goes through the initial upgrade. I am then asked to log in to Windows and that the process will continue. It doesn't continue so I initiate it manually by executing setup.exe, which is on the CD drive. This process plugs away forever and the progress bar finally reaches the end but it never completes. It says "This operation may take some time to complete". Can someone define "some time". How long should this take after the progress bar gets to the end. I have let it sit like that for over an hour and it never completes. Is it hung up? or just taking an extremely long time? Thank you!
Still going... It has been going now for over four hours... Should I continue to wait? or is this never going to complete?
Hi msdnman, on the source virtual machine, please remove antivirus software and Virtual Machine Additions; after it, try to convert it to Parallels Desktop.
Looked promising... I atempted to delete the additions on the MAC and it couldn't because the Windows Installer couldn't start. I was able to uninstall this from from the Virtual PC under Windows and perform the migration again. This time the upgrade continued automatically after logging in but it is still hanging on step 4 of 4. Is there any thing else that can cause this? I have quite a bit installed on the vhd and really don't want to start over with it. Thanks!
Hi msdnman, can you please make a screenshot of Add/Remove programs list on souce installation and post it here?
You can also try to click inside the virtual machine and press Control+Command+Option+R to switch to manual mode; you'll probably see what process prevents upgrade from completion.
I have the same problem, anyone have any other ideas ------------------------------ ebook pdf ebook manual manual pdf
