Same Probleme MacPro Quad core, upgrade from 4 to 5. Windows XP stops somehow, restart brings blue screen with some error messages, too fast to read.
Reinstalling PD 4 works again , no probleme. definite a probleme of PD 5. reproducable.

How did you get the spinning ball to stop??

I am stuck at the spinning ball and cannot move anywhere. I can only force quit Parallels.

Hi... I have the same prob listed before :
    Hi all
I bought Parallels Desktop 5 yesterday in the hope that the virtual machines would get a boost, now I am ending up with a mess.
Parallels Desktop permanently crashes on my machine. Upgrade old machines as well as installing new machines leads to crashes so in fact, right now this is an update for nothing.

I am on a MacPro Quadcore with six gig of Ram, one should believe that this is a good enough configuration.

Any one else having the same problems? maybe even found a solution to. I really don't want to end up as a win user on mac spending all my time with bugs instead of being productive.

    Thanks in advance.

here is a report ID 2574840 happen often when I use the CTRL-Z command...

    Thx for the reply..!

re: VM window freezes; Windows starts in background

Sorry, DEVX, but your solution does nothing for this phenomena. It is widespread, and so far, has bumped my "ticket" up to the developers. Everyone who has this problem should follow all the threads I have posted to (search for threads posted by EugeneR) and you will get an idea of how many people must be having this same experience.

It has been nearly a month with technical people, remote sessions on my mac, and now awaiting developments from the "developers".

I think the Parallels technical team needs to post to all forums that support Macs and Windows as a Guest OS some form of comment which address this issue.

Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac fails to install

    OSX 10.6.4

Can't get Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac to install. Sometimes the installer will suddenly fail while other times the installation seems to get to the end with the Restart Required message. When I press the Restart Now button a message box Install Failed Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac was not correctly installed shows up. I can choose Show Error or Quit. Sometimes the machine will reboot with no signs of the installation. Any ideas to try? Many thanks in advance.
