I have been running Win7 (initially installed in BootCamp, then recognized by Parallels) through Parallels 5 for some weeks now with no problems. I have not anymore tried booting up directly from BC, but only from Parallels since my initial experience was, Windows discerned major hardware changes when I went from one kind of boot-up to the other (I guess). The result was, they wanted a reactivation, and concluded that I had a pirated copy (I don't).

I got back in their good graces through phone reactivation, and I did not want to push my success with any more needed reactivations - hence I booted Windows only one way, through Parallels, and I hoped that this would not send any more "hardware changes" to them. That has apparently been successful. My hope has been that when Apple fully supports Win7 in BC (as they do now), and when Parallels upgrades to this new situation (as I hope it is now), all will be well and I will be able to boot Win7 through EITHER Boot Camp OR Parallels with no Windows activation issues.

I upgraded to Parallels 5.0.9310, and noted a Boot Camp upgrade 3.1 available to now support Win7. Wonderful! I attempted to install Boot Camp 3.1. This immediately opened Win7 in Parallels, and an installation procedure went through its paces.

My problem now is, when I check for the version of Boot Camp Assistant on the Mac side, it still reads 3.0.1, not 3.1. So - is 3.1 installed?
Why did Parallels immediately open Win7, and I guess install something when I tried to install BC 3.1 on the Mac side?
What if anything do I need to do now?

Can I now use Win7 fully from BC as well as through Parallesl, or should I continue to use it only through Parallels?

    Thanks for any help!

an update, which is even more confusing to me:
I took the risk of booting up in the Boot Camp Win7 - and sure enough, it accused me of an illegal copy of Windows (it is not). However, it opened OK and in Win7, I checked the version of Boot Camp - voila! - it is the upgrade, 3.1!

Then, I rebooted into Mac and opened Windows under Parallels - in the Mac side, it still tells me that the Boot Camp version is the old version, 3.0.1. However, so far, I don't get the "illegal copy" warning from Windows.

Is it possible to have the same legal copy of Win7 recognized by MS under both Boot Camp and Parallels?
Which version of Boot Camp do I, in fact, have now?

    Any help would be appreciated....
