After updating to Parallels 5, I've had a strange problem . When I click on the "to start" icon, the VM, which I have been using since Parallels 3, (Windows Vista) begins to load and then appears to hangup; that is, the clock quits spinning and the loading animation ceases. The "spinning ball" appears and Parallels is totally unresponsive. However, with my speakers on I can hear the "Windows loading chimes" as Vista loads in the background, even though I only see the black screen of the VM window. I must force quit Parallels because it is totally unresponsive. When I restart Parallels, the Windows Vista logon window will appear in the VM window. I can sign in as normal and Windows appears to be fully functional. If I shut down Windows, I return normally to the Parallels VM list and or VM window and shut down Parallels normally. If I restart Parallels, the problem will reoccur. Clearly, Vista is loading. Just as clearly, it is unavailable somehow at startup. How is this possible? Windows is not the problem since a) it always loads properly, it just doesn't appear in the VM window; b) all of the repair procedures offered for Windows indicate it not damaged in any way; and c) it is Parallels which hangs up and freezes. Anyone have any ideas? EugeneR
Hi EugeneR, please try to reinstall Parallels Desktop as per KB link: http://kb.parallels.com/en/6904
re: reinstall Sorry, that approach has been tried in several different forms without success. The problem persists.
re: must be an epidemic To Parallels technical team: please see posts in "Windows Guest OS" for a list of users with precisely the same problem. This is not an isolated case!!!!
Hi EugeneR, if possible, please post links to the mentioned forum threads here, I'll really appreciate it.
EugeneR, since you already have support ticket which is handled by level 2 support, I think we will finally come up with a resolution.
