Unable to update, register or contact support

    When I first tried to install Parallels 4.0 from a CD I bought, it informed me that a newer version was available and offered to download it. The installer, however, gets stuck when the download progress bar reaches the end, so I had to cancel that and install the older version from the CD.

    I have now installed Parallels 4.0.3049 and Windows XP Home in it. When I try to update Paralles from Help->Check for Updates I get the following message:

    "No updates can be downloaded.
    Your registration information does not allow you to receive updates. Contact the Parallels support team for assistance."

    When I try to register via Help->Register Product, I am shown a window where I input my name and email address, but when I press the OK button, I get this error message:

    "Registration failed.
    General error has occurred during the registration process. Please contact the Parallels support team for assistance."

    I have tried contacting support, but to do that it seems that I must first register my product and receive a Support Code.

    So I am unable to update or register my Parallels, or contact support to receive assistance with anything.

    Good luck with the URL - I do not think that it will work

    I too have exactly the same error as you. In order to use that link that has been suggested by I-Che, you need to be able to register and log on, right? Guess what, the link brings you to a log-in page where you will not be able to get support because you will get a "general error" message. Its an endless frustrating loop!

    So, you could try the support line at 1-888-811-2489, but again, good luck.

    I like this product. When you finally get to talk to someone, they actually are quite nice. Now that I have bought version 5, it seems that I am going through exactly the same issues as the last time.

    I also had that between two updates a few months ago. Parallels had advised me to just download the latest build from the Parallels Desktop Download page. I did that, installed the upate, and haven't had a registration issue since.

    Hi LyleC,
    of course - to submit sales ticket, you have to be registered at parallels.com and logged in. If you have problems creating ticket for sales, let me know, I'll create one for you to the email registered at this forum.

    The same happens to me. I would like to update and later buy the next version, but it doesn't let me. I bought my Mac and Paralells version 5 came with it. Could I get a support ticket opened?
