Kaspersky reports that it is turned off

    Hi

    I may just be struggling with considerable ignorance of the workings of Windows XP Pro (SP3 in this case) however in the Windows Security Centre it tells me:

    Parallels Internet Security Powered by Kaspersky reports that it is turned off

    It's in a red-ish box.

    The panel for Kaspersky tells me:

    Your computer is protected

    in a reassuring green.

    In settings for the Kaspersky panel Enable Protection is checked.

    So, it is looking good in the Kaspersky panel.

    I'm hoping the Kaspersky panel is right and if so how do I get Windows Security Centre panel to become convinced that Kaspersky is in fact switched on?

    Hello patrick,

    If you have installed Parallels Internet Security but Windows Security Center reports, that the computer is not protected,
    please, click on Security Center icon in the tray -> Virus Protection -> Recommendations and mark the box "I have an Antivirus..."

    Hi Srinivasulu

    Thank you for your assistance. Now I have started up my VM with Win XP and I see that Security Centre is telling me that Kaspersky is turned on.

    If I start up Win XP in future and it reports that Kaspersky is turned off I will do as your posting suggests.

    I have found that when Kaspersky is out of date, Windows Security Center will warn about that. Kaspersky downloads the updates, and in that process WSC reports that Kaspersky has been turned off.

    I've been able to resync Kaspersky and WSC by either rebooting, or by pausing and unpausing Kaspersky. When that happens, WSC recognizes that it has resumed protection.

    Thanks for sharing your solution Alan. I followed your steps and now Windows recognizes Kaspersky.

    The problem is that the security center is started before Kaspersky, and for some reason Kaspersky doesn't notify (or the security center doesn't see) the security center.

    Disabling and re-enabling Kaspersky will solve the problem for the current session, telling the security center that you have an antivirus will eliminate the problem, but be aware that in that case, if something goes wrong with Kaspersky, the security center won't know about it.
