I purchased and installed Paralells Desktop for Mac according to the directions provided. I created a virtual machine and installed Windows XP Service Pack2 as instructed via the manual. It was the only thing I installed on my computer that day and the only change I made to the hard drive. I thought everything was fine and shut of my computer when I was done work for the day. When I turned on my computer this morning Mac OS 10.6 would not boot. My computer was stuck on the boot screen. When I called Paralells to ask how to deal with the situation I was told there was NOTHING they could do. When I replied that their software caused the problem and they had to have some input, I was told to call AppleCare. If AppleCare could get my operating system to run, then maybe they could determine whether I had made a mistake in installation. When I informed them I used their instructions and followed them to the letter, they had no reply.

Anyone have an input? Anyone else receive little to no help with their problem? Apple went through some steps with me and basically we found out that "kernel mach" had been altered and there was no way of getting around a reinstall of Mac OS 10.6. I am doing that now, hoping that the reinstall will get me to my real desktop. The tech was hopeful, but not confident that this would work. I am keeping my fingers crossed...

    Hi guns_o_brixton,
I am really sorry to hear about such situation. Unfortunately, it is hard to say for sure what has caused the crash.
As I see, you have requested refund now - is there assistance from Parallels side required?

While Parallels does install a number of kernel extension it does not mess with the Mach kernel to my knowledge.
