    Hello everybody!

    I am trying to play Metal Gear Solid 2 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid_Substance) on Parallels Desktop 5.0.9308 running on a MacBook Pro. I managed to perform a full installation of the game but, when I try to run it, I get a black screen. The game's SFX and music, though, work flawlessly.

    Looking at the log file of the game, I found these lines:
    /*-- Graphics System Daemon Start --*/
    Selected Device:parallels Video Adapter
    Device[0]:parallels Video Adapter

    and, several lines below:

    X2W_ErrorPrintfID:ID 8

    I also installed the latest DirectX from Microsoft website, but nothing changed.

    Any idea or suggestion?

    Thank you very much,

    Guido

    Oooops... I overlooked two important details:

    1) I am running Parallels with 3D acceleration and 64Mb of video memory;
    2) I forgot to quote the most important part of the log file:

    /*-- Graphics System Daemon Start --*/
    Selected Device:parallels Video Adapter
    Device[0]:parallels Video Adapter
    Can't Find Device:parallels Video Adapter

    Sorry for that.

    Cheers,

    G.

    maybe you could try upping the vid memory to 128 mb?

    @Shaddam IV

    Thank you for the suggestion, but raising video memory to 128MB did not help.

    Cheers,

    Guido
