I had to re install parallels this week and have also installed windows xp. Its on my mac which runs snow leopard. Since i have done this my virtual machine will not connect to the internet. I am using a USB mobile connection with Three. (In Australia) I use to be connected on the Mac and whenever i needed to turn on the windows virtual machine i just opened windows explorer and it all worked fine. But now i cant get windows explorer to work at all. Can someone help me?
Me Too! But I installed Windows 7 to go with my Parallels 5 and new Snow Leopard. I know, changing too many things at once, but all seems good, except my Win7 virt machine says it cannot find any network card. Argh! Par. 5 is set to share the network adapter and it seems good (just like my Parallels 4 - WinXP settup was, but no joy. Help!
I finally found that... ...If i reinstalled Parallels tools using the original Parallels disk, it all worked. I'd goofed that up on the original install of the OS. Thanks for the response!
Thanks for the tip and i hope it works. But i am a turn on, use and turn off person. please tell me how to do the switch from Bridged to Shared network.
Please explain how to changed from Bridged network to Shared network. I turn my machine on and use it then turn it off. I have no idea how to do this. Thanks. JG
to set bridged (or shared) I use "shared"= Use the top parallels menu, "virtual machine" bottom item "configure" then, when "hardware" is selected, highlight the "network adapter 1" and in "type" select "shared Neetworking" and click "connected". You can also (in the virtual machine) use the network icon at the bottom strip -= it looks like a web. if you right-click it (I believe) you can also get a network configuation menu just like the one above. You'll have to play with that - I don't have my machine up right here to look. -tm
A tip: open the manual PDF with Preview and search for the word "shared network". That'll help. You'll find the setting in the VM's settings, hardware, network.
