I recently upgraded to parallels 5. Since doing so my machine has slowed to a complete crawl when Parallels is running. So much so that it is unusable. When I do get Windows going I run into a problem that i have never seen before. When running a game, in this case Aion, the graphics disappear when I put my cursor over the game window. It happens in every view mode in parallel. So far the up grade form 4 to 5 has been a downgrade in every way. Speed, graphics, stability. I would appreciate your help or a refund and a downgrade to 4.0. Even though everything was choppy in 4.0 I could at least see it. My Mac Book Pro is the 17 inch June 2009 model with 4GB of ram.

I'm having problems too since upgrading to Parallels 5 from 4. I am running Windows 7 from my Boot Camp Partition and since upgrading to Parallels 5, Windows 7 is really slow under Parallels, when booting directly. Before Parallels 5 everything was very responsive when booting directly into boot camp, I'd prefer not to have to re-install Windows 7, but it might come down.

similar problems with v5, Leopard, Windows XP

v4 was great, worked fine, but v5 has never completed installing Parallel Tools. Also, once or twice everything froze, requiring me to force shutdown my computer. I'm running a MacBook Pro with 2GB RAM. And again, using Leopard and Windows XP. I'm trying to find some information on downgrading my virtual machine, but no luck so far. Maybe since it's a bootcamp installation I don't need to worry about the vm?

Uninstall parallels 5, then restart and do a new installation.

Uninstalling v5 and reinstalling did not help.

Also having Parallels 5 problems on Mac Snow Leopard

I too am experiencing various problems now I have upgraded to Parallels 5:

    - Sometimes it brings Mac system to a slow crawl or crash.
    - Both screens go black for a second, out of the blue (like just then whilst I was typing this).
    - Parallels Tools upgrade kept coming up with an error that 'New Version Manager' was running and could not be quit.
    - Cannot type a £ sign anywhere within guest Windows XP OS - tried NotePad & QuickBooks, all I get is a # symbol.
    - Mac drives are NOT auto-mounting, even though they should. Have only been able to add and map one of the four so far, it will not 'see' the others.

Parallels 4 was absolutely fine, if generally a bit slow. Really regretting the upgrade...(

If you have Kaspersky Internet Security installed that's the problem. Uninstalled it and running smooth now.

Nope, Kaspersky not installed. I do have BitDefender, though. I hope that's not the problem (and it certainly wasn't a problem in Parallels 4), as there's no way I'm going to disable Virus protection!)
