I get the next error message after trying to install Parrallels Tools:

Eroor 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly component {98CB24AD-52FB-DB5F-A01F-C8B3B9A1E8E}.
    HRESULT: 0x8007054F.

I need the tools since I can't get to the internet in Vista now (ethernet controller install also fails).

I got the same error as well
Using Windows 7 X64 bit version

Apparently it has something to do with the .net framework that Windows uses, its either outdated or damaged, i tried getting .net 3.5 from microsoft's site and it doesn't seem to work (installer was bad?) along with "sfc" on command prompt to see if there are any corrupted system files.

While we are at it, it seems in order for me to load Parallel without hanging on loading, i have to disable spotlight...

Once again... the latest .net framework is embedded with Windows 7, so you won't see the .net 3.5 installation on add/remove programs on control panel. And also when you try to update its a no go because it says its already installed...

    Same issue on Windows 7

I did the update to 9308 this morning, but now I can't use my VM because Parallel Tools does not install. Comes up with error 1935. With Windows 7 .Net Framework is not a separate component, so the KB article is not useful.

Help! I will have to rollback to previous version.

The last two updates I did gave me grief, so I'm beginning to wonder whether I better wait a month or so before applying any update.

    Andrew,
unfortunately I cannot reproduce the issue with error 1935 on Windows 7 VM, so please consider the how-to below as a suggestion:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features > click Turn Windows Features on or off
    2. Click [+] next to Microsoft.NET Framework and uncheck the components
    3. Click OK
    4. From Uninstall a Program menu, remove any Parallels Tools entry (if any)
    5. Restart Windows 7
    6. Try to install Parallels Tools from Virtual Machine menu

Please let me know the results.

I have found that on my Windows 7 VM, I have lost the 'Turn on/off Windows features list' it is always empty. So something is corrupt within my system somewhere. This basically caused the Tools install to fail. I used Windows Restore to get back to a working system. I'll investigate further what's gone wrong next year, but I believe it's a Windows 7 issue at this point.
