Has anyone identified (as of the 4.0 release), why a Windows 7 64-bit Guest at idle consumes 25% of CPU on the host (prl_vm_app)? I see that FreeBSD had the same issue, but you're able to change a setting in the loader.conf that set's the kern.hz=100 (and then the idle percentage drops to around 2 to 3%). Has anyone else experienced this issue?
I'm getting the same, but I'm running 5.0. I'm still happy with the product, but it would be nice to know.
I'm running XP in Parallels 5 and while prl_vm_app doesn't use much CPU, it is hogging a LOT of my real memory. I see it taking upwards of 500-700 MB. I have 2GB installed so this is a fairly sizeable chunk of it (especially since Safari seems to grab an increasingly large amount of memory and not release it, either). I have tried setting the VM to use either 512MB or 768 MB RAM but neither seems to have an appreciable effect on the real memory used by this prl_vm_app.
I'm observing the same. I barely scrape by on my 2 GB machine (256 of which are video memory) with a 768 MB VM - if I'm lucky I can open my email program on the Mac side and work in the VM...
