I'm running Parallels Desktop 4.0 build 4.0.3848 and Win XP SP2

VM was running fine yesterday. Went to shut down and the VM froze during shutdown. Can't get VM to complete shutdown process therefore VM will not restart today. FYI, I upgraded MS Office to Office 2007 yesterday. All appeared to be fine after upgrade. Until shutdown.

If Windows is frozen on a shut down sequence there is hardly any other option other than stopping virtual machine forcibly. Check here how to do that.

If it is Parallels Desktop application that is hanging, you would have to force quit the application.

After that, try starting the virtual machine again and check for errors.

Thanks desgael. I tried the method you mentioned but since the VM was froze all of the options were grayed out and unavailable. I did find a reference to KB Article ID 6338 in the forums and that article explained how to kill the process via a terminal window. All seems to be working fine after a restart.

    Thanks again for the response.
