I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing difficulty with connecting a Palm TX to a Windows XP Pro 32bit virtual machine? It's never been a comforting experience synchronising my palm with my virtual machine. A warning would pop up whenever the palm was connected stating that the hotsync should be stopped and started again. In the end, I would simply ignore the message and let the hotsync complete, which it would. With the release of Parallels 5 I thought the "problem" would be solved. However, the virtual machine won't even allow me to connect my palm. Instead I'm faced with the dreaded "Unable to connect the USB device to your virtual machine. The device cannot be connected now. Please try again later." See the attached image. I've tried 5 minutes later, an hour later, restarting the virtual machine and connecting the palm once the machine has settled down, and left the palm connected while the virtual machine is booting. None of these tactics appear to work. The Parallels Devices | USB | Configure menu item correctly identifies that a Palm device has been connected but doesn't seem to pass the connection through to the virtual machine. The other Palm related threads in the forums all relate to similar issues encountered when version 4 was first released, and the conversations appear to have dwindled off around June this year. I've been running Parallels since early v3, and upgraded to both v4 and subsequently v5 over this weekend. My hardware is an iMac Core Duo with 2GB ram, 250GB hdd. The size of the drive for the virtual machine is 15GB. Does anyone have any solutions to this issue? Having the same issue? What suggestions do Parallels developers have? And no, buying an iPhone is not an option! ;-) Tia, Keith
Palmdrive USB connections I am having the same problem but I am using a palmdrive, otherwise same setup as you have. One other problem is that now once I have upgraded to Parallels 5 and using Snow Leopard 10.6.2, Windows XP virtual does not shut down completeley and I have to do a force quit. No Idea what is going on.
Hi, Keith Macpherson. If you use mac os x 10.4.x on your mac, please do the following: 1. Open Info.plist file from prl_usb_connect.kext for editing in text editor. For example in vim: sudo vim /Library/Parallels/Parallels\ Service.app/Contents/Kexts/10.4/prl_usb_connect.kext/Contents/Info.plist 2. Delete strings which contains word PrlProbeScore (there are two of them) and save file. 3. Reboot host. If you other version of mac os, please do the following: 1. select checkbox Parallels Desktop -> Preferences -> General -> Use detailed log messages 2. reproduce the issue 3. make a problem report 4. post it number here 5. remove back "Use detailed log messages"

Alexander, That worked perfectly! I was thinking I needed to come and mention I was still using Tiger. Thanks again.
