I received an email from Parallels that advertised PD5 and indicated a special price for those who bought PD4 in Sept. "If you purchased Desktop 4.0 for Mac between August 28 and September 30, 2009, please click here for important upgrade information." When I click the link it takes me to the following page. "For customers who purchased and registered an Upgrade to Parallels Desktop 4.0 for Mac between August 28 and September 30, we value your business and want to provide a special offer to upgrade to Parallels Desktop 5 for Mac. Although you are not eligible for our Grace Period free upgrade program, we’d like to offer you a very special upgrade price. This offer is available at My Account on our website." When I click the link I do not see any offer on the My Account page. Am I missing something? I purchased the PD4 upgrade through their site directly. It is registered in My Account. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I received the mail. My account page did not give any info but there was also a link given in the Parallels mail to a web form. I noticed that this is valid only for those who upgraded to V4 and not those who purchased V4 new. Wonder why this is the case? The webform kept rejecting me as it did not accept the activation key I put in.
Same problem. Got an email today saying the offer should be for $9.95, but when I go to the "My Account", there's nothing there. Tried to submit the form the email linked to for problems, and then that failed. So I've opened a ticket. My current best guess as to the problem, I downloaded a demo key on Aug 20th (8 days before the cutoff), and then purchased the upgrade on Sept 2 (5 days after the cutoff), and their system has erroneously attached the incorrect (earlier) date to my purchase. We'll see what happens.
Same problem Not sure if Parallels thought this one through....I got the email, I purchased 3 copies in Sept 2009; when I logged into My Account, there is nothing related to upgrading....please if someone has an answer, please post it. Thanks
Click on registered products and it will show upgrade now. Click on this. However when you get to the screen, you can not remove the extended download (an additional $6.99) Hope they fix this part before November 19.
Click on registered products then upgrade now. It will show it in the cart. However it will also include extended download for and additional $6.99 which you can not delete. Hope they fix this part before November 19.
No upgrade option Same problem as everyone else here. Under "registered products" it lists my purchase, but there is a "-" in the area where there should be an upgrade icon to click.
Yep, same for me. I emailed support a few days ago about it and was told the link would be online by Tuesday, but I'm still waiting.
Don't know whether it was in response to the form I submitted, or to the trouble ticket I opened, but when I went to "My Account" today, the $9.99 upgrade option had finally appeared. I've now upgraded successfully.
I resubmitted the form and now the error message is clearer. The special upgrade price is only valid for those who upgraded to PD4 during the specified time window. This is very disappointing. I purchased PD3 in Aug 08. Then have to buy PD4 in Sep because V3 was not supported in Snow Leopard. Now I have to fork out $$$ for V5. This is the only software I know which I have to pay 3 times in less than 15 months for upgrades. While the product is good, I don't think it is worth it.
So I submitted my form about a week ago and I just got this email. "We have received and reviewed the form you submitted for the $9.95 upgrade offer. Unfortunately the information you submitted does not qualify for this special offer. This offer was designed for customers who purchased Parallels Desktop for Mac 2.5 and 3.0 from Parallels, then moved to Snow Leopard when it shipped (late August 2009), and then were unable to use their Windows applications in Parallels Desktop for Mac without upgrading to version 4.0." Thats not exactly how I read it on the website.

Exactly, the original offer made no mention of it only being applicable to 2.5 to 4.0 upgrades. THey're changing the goalposts whenever anyone tries to apply the offer. Quite disgusting
BOGUS UPGRADE OFFER - I have a PDF I got the same email. I bought Parallels 4.0 on August 26 2009. When I got the Upgrade Offer email I made a PDF of the Information Page which is attached. They are liars. I sent them at least seven emails asking about my special upgrade price from this promotion. I kept getting back auto-responses. Finally one email said that promotion was only for people that upgraded from 3.0 to 4.0. Yet I have a page from their website which says something completely different. In addition they mysteriously changed the promotion start date from August 25 to August 28, 2009.
Thanks for posting the PDF, AbbotW -- it does mean we can show the the real thing to the Parallels people who deny it existed.
