Anyone successfully upgraded from 3 to 5? Did the VM convert without problems? Any advise or warnings?

    Thanks

    Yes,
The conversion of V3 VM has issues regarding going into manual mode to activate windows and not coming out of step 3 because is should go into manual mode again and let the user choose no to activating windows. There are articles in the KB and forums mostly from the V4 upgrade. Too bad these issues are still around in V5 making it difficult to convert a VM from V3. If I had not done my research in advance I would not be too happy.

I did it today. There are some issues during the conversion of the old VM to the new. Mine hung in step two. I let it go for an hour not knowing what was going on. I finally clicked the "lock" at top and entered "manual" mode. At that point I saw Windows was running with a message box asking if I wanted to "activate" Windows. Huh? What was that all about? The mouse didn't work but I could arrow to the 'no' button and press return. The conversion process stated up again until it hung in step 3. I did the manual thing and saw the same message box and answered "no." Finally when that was done I was able to start Windows... where I got the same message box. This time I did the "activation over the internet" which took about ten seconds. I didn't have to give any info so I don't know what kind of "phone home" thing Windows XP with SP3 has. Since then, no problems. I gave XP 1.5 GB of RAM and it flies... as does the rest of the Mac. (I have 8GB of RAM on this new iMac).

There should have been some messages put to me or something in their documentation about hanging up during step 2.

Networking Connection Issues upgrading from 3 to 5

I just finished upgrading one of my computers from 3 to 5 and now I cannot connect to my company network. I can connect to the internet but cannot log into the network. When I try to connect to a mapped network drive I get a message that says "the system detected a possible attempt to compromise security". Help!! I'm running Windows XP and have upgraded to OS 10.6.
