Text stuck in clipboard

I was wondering if anyone else has run across a problem where text that was copied from one Mac application gets stuck in the clipboard even after copying text from another application.

    Mac OS 10.5.8
    Virtual Machine Windows Vista
    Parallels Desktop 3.0
    Coherence Mode

I copied a block of text from Thunderbird on the Mac and pasted it into Remedy on the Vista VM. A couple of lines from a document I'd copied from Google Docs to Text Wrangler several hours earlier were appended to the end of the text from Thunderbird. I checked in Parallels Tools, and clipboard synchronization was on, and the two lines from the other document showed under "current clipboard content". I was able to remove them, but not before Remedy saved the ticket. Fortunately, it was pretty innocuous stuff, but I would really like to know what happened, and if this is a known issue.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Possibly you have copied _already_ selected text from Thunderbird by clicking right mouse button on the selection and choosing "Copy" menu item while Parallels Desktop (or some Windows window/application) is still active (it is easy to do if you have multiple monitor configuration or work in Coherence/Crystal)? If yes, it is a known issue. To copy something to shared buffer from Mac OS X you must activate (bring to foreground) some Mac OS X application (usually, the one you want to copy from).

I'm not sure how that would work, because what happened was almost the opposite: the "stuck" text was a fragment from a text document on the Mac. Somehow, my subsequent copy from Thunderbird didn't overwrite the stuck text--just appended to it. That's the troubling part. I really didn't want that text permanently attached to the work log, and from everything I can tell, it shouldn't have been there--it should have been copied over when I went into Thunderbird.
