    Hi,
    I've been running the Windows 7 RC in Parallels Desktop without any problems for months. Yesterday I installed the retail version of 7. Everything seems to be working, except the Parallels Shared Folders no longer work and none of my Mac folders show up in the VM, as they did before. I tried reinstalling Parallel Tools to no sucess. Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Hunter

    I have the same problem and reported it via the official forms to parallels customer disservice about a week ago, havent heard a squeak from them at all since.
    I was able to share my home folder in os-x and then map it as a network drive in win7 which does work but the integration i had in RC1 does not work and i am having other little strange events now and then as well.
    My guess is that Parallels 5.0 will offer full support of snow leopard and win 7 for the price of an upgrade.
    i am not complaining about that as vmware did the same thing and it is probably a lot of work but knowing when that would be available would be quite nice...

    Remember that customer dissatisfaction is parallels highest priority "we're not satisfied until you're not satisfied" seems to be their motto ;-)

    good luck to you
    Jeff

    I have found as a (hopefully only temporary) workaround, that if you change the networking on your vm config from shared to bridged that I can now see all the other available shares on my network and i can map then to drive letters in win 7.
    I do think that it is ironic that the only fix referenced in the release notes for .3848 is that the shared profile is now fixed (NOT).

    Here is what I recommend you doing...

    Uninstall Parallels Tools with the help of the following steps:

    1) Start virtual machine.

    2) Click on Start->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs->Uninstall Parallels Tools from here.

    3) Go to "My Computer" - "C" Drive - "Program Files" - "Parallels" folder and delete the "Parallels Tools" folder.

    4) Click the Windows "Start" menu -> "Run" and type "regedit". Hit OK.

    5) In Registry Editor, go to "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and delete the "Parallels Tools" entry.

    6) Reboot Windows.

    Reinstall Parallels Tools with the help of the following steps:

    1) Click on "Virtual Machine" on top menu bar and click on "Install Parallels Tools".

    2) Click on "Continue".

    3) Wait till you get a message "Parallels Tools are installed successfully".

    Regards

    Dirk

    @ DirkL,
    Thanks. I tried it, but it didn't work for me. I have started thinking this is a Quickbooks problem because as I said earlier Quicken connects just fine.

    @ JeffreyP
    Shared connection never worked for me, even when I was using winxp. I couldn't connect to the internet. I always used bridged.

    Jeffrey, please let us know if everything works as it is supposed to with version 5. I will definitely upgrade if I can have what I am paying for.
    Thanks.

    Hi T..V..

    As we speak, Win 7 is purring along flawlessly in Crystal mode and all is well. However, it was not without effort on my part...
    this is what i did
    1 - quit all mac apps
    2 - ran cocktail to clean up and fix disk permissions on mac
    3 - ran super duper and made a bootable copy of my drive in case i had to go back to p4
    4 - ran the p5 upgrade
    - the p4 -> p5 upgrade went flawlessly

    5 - ran win 7 and installed the parallel tools
    - the networking was same as before - not working

    so I followed the instructions in this post from parallels:
    =====
    1. In windows click on start -> control panel -> add or remove programs, here uninstall Parallels Tools and kaspersky (Parallels Internet Security) if it is installed.
    2. After uninstalling completely click on start -> run and type cmd and click on ok (a black window should pop up on the screen).
    3. In the black window type cd c:\windows\system32\drivers and hit the enter button.
    4. Now type del prl* and hit the enter button
    5. Go to My Computer -> c: -> program files and rename the parallels folder to parallelsold .
    6. Restart the virtual machine
    7. After the windows is booted install Parallels Tools and then install Kaspersky (Parallels Internet Security) if necessary.
    =====
    in step 4 i got an error that i didn't have permissions to delete the drivers so instead of step 2 above i went to windows programs->accessories->command prompt and right clicked it and ran it as administrator. after this i completed steps 3-7 successfully.

    I reinstalled the parallels tools and after the reboot voila all my network drives and shares showed up and win7 is working perfectly.
    ======
    note: i have not tried winxp (and don't care as all my pgms are running fine in win7) but i did notice after the p4-5 upgrade that some of the config info in the winxp files had changed (mine changed to 2 cpus) . so i recommend going thru your vm config after the upgrade and before starting the vm just to confirm it is as you want it.

    may the force be with you!

    Quick Update to my last post, winxp worked fine first time no drama of any kind.
    (i did scan thru the config settings first and changed #cpu to 1)
