I installed the upgrade from 3846 and let installer work its magic. It proceeded to update parallel tools in my Windows 7 vm and failed. Using Windows system restore back to prior event and manually removing parallel tools doesn't even work. Now I have a vm that has only certain features working. No matter how many times parallel tools install is run, it fails. So I go with a vm that needs a parallel tools upgrade (no available share folder) or I go with the upgraded parallel tools partially working. Ideas?

Do you get an error message when it fails or does it just not install the tools?

If I chose to remove the tools (v3846, before manual 3848 upgrade) manually it just "disappears" after "gathering information". Also, booting to "safe mode" does not allow uninstall because "windows installer" service cannot be run in safe mode. On the upgrade of parallel tools v3848 from v3846, the process does end with an error dialog. Something to the effect that "install has encountered an error...the system will restart and try to install parallel tools again". No error details or error #.

More info: So just uninstall of parallel tools v3846 won't work under Windows 7 because of difxapp prior version problems with OS identification. So that leaves me with running 3848 setup to remove v3846 parallel tools (which looks like it works) but seems to fail when copying new files for v3848. With the setup.exe, what is the command line switch to get a log of the install?
