ok, so I gather that when I am in convergence mode, command tab should work normally.

has anyone else tried this with Liteswitch? i can't get LiteSwitch's switcher to activate when a windows app active

I use liteswitch. Windows apps showup just fine in it. There is an option in parallels to enable them to showup (I can't remember what the default setting was... but its in the main parallels settings, appearance tab, "Show Applications in the Dock."

    Ok thanks.

When I get the liteswitch bar going, Parallels and the windows apps show up fine (too cool!)

I just can't seem to activate the application switcher using Command Tab when in a windows app.

Perhaps it is a different preference relating to Coherence mode...?

I have seen some other people saying the same thing.. I haven't personally experienced this behaviour at all. What it seems to be from reading other posts is a focus issue (whether Parallels has focus or not.) I would say to check the OS X System Preferences > Universal Access, and check/uncheck the "Enable access for assistive devices" at the bottom and see if that helps.

I had the same problem, and guess what?! Despite seeming as if your suggestion came out of left field, it worked! My command+tab is working again, whether a Parallels window is in focus or not! Thanks!

Wow.. I can confirm that turning off assitive devices definitely gets command tab working again. What exactly do I loose by turning it off?

I don't know much about that functionality. I do know that my MondoMouse stopped working. That's a small app that lets me resize my Mac windows without having to grab the lower-right corner. It specifically says you have to have assistive devices turned on.
