3120 0n MBP no battery indicator ?

Hi Am running v 3120 on a new MBP , as well as bootcamp. In bootcamp I have no problems . I have set up 3120 OK , however in the system tray it only shows running on AC , even though I am on battery . Is this how it should be ??? Also I am seeing some "tearing" of the display when scrolloing down an Internet page. regards

 

Windows under Parallels has no idea that it's running on a notebook.
