My wife uses a legacy (MsDOS) software package for her structural engineering design & load calculation. The program requires a dongle connected to the parallel port in order to run. On my old PowerBook, under VirtualPC 7 I used a dongle emulator called WKPE and Windows 98 to run the program. Although terribly slow, the setup worked perfectly. Now, my PowerBook has been replaced under warranty with an MBP 2.0GHz. I managed to get Windows 98 installed with Parallels, and although the OS is beautifully fast, starting WKPE dumps me back into the finder with a bug-report form. WKPE 1.81 can be downloaded from http://www.exetools.com/files/others/wkpe181.zip and works only under Win 95/98 due to the legacy .vxd drivers. Would appreciate any assistance in getting it up and running.
Same issue I've been working for 4 weeks trying to get a client of mine onto a new XP box, unfortunately one of his old programs will only run on Windows 98, and it to has to have a key plugged into the parallel port... this is seriously limiting... Any chance we are going to see a parallel driver for windows 98 implemented into Parallels Workstation for XP/Linux?
