V 4 install conflict

I have an imac and upgraded to Mac OS X version 10.6 and lost my Parallels v. 3 so bought v 4.0 but while running install ran across the dialogue box: "Conflicting virtual machines" telling me to "Shut down these running and suspended virtual machines: Microsoft Windows XP". I checked how to do this but was directed to a parallels tool bar that I no longer have. What do I do here, any ideas?
