Our problem began when we were unable to access the Internet (Shared Networking) through Parallels. We ran ipconfig, and there was only one adapter listed: our SSL VPN adapter. In the past, we had solved this problem by reinstalling Parallels tools, but in Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs the "Remove" button for Parallels Tools didn't work, as apparently it was missing a file called parallels-tools-i386.msi. Parallels Tools had not been functioning properly for a long time, so after the automatic uninstall failed, we tried a manual uninstall as suggested by the knowledge base (deletion, removal of registry keys, etc.). It succeeded in deleting Parallels Tools from our system. However, Parallels did not recognize the situation and only listed the "Reinstall Parallels Tools..." option. This option tried to automatically uninstall Parallels Tools, but it couldn't for the same reason that Control Panel had earlier failed. Unfortunately, the continuation of the program was conditional upon the success of the uninstall, so we couldn't actually install Parallels Tools. We are also unsure of the root cause of the networking failure and loss of the parallels-tools-i386.msi failure. We note that at least one other user of 4.0.3844 (that is our Parallels Tools version number) has had a similar problem with Parallels Tools. Does anyone have a solution for these problems?

    Hello,

Please follow the steps mentioned below:

    1) Start virtual machine.
    2) Click on Start->Control Panel->Add or Remove Programs->Uninstall Parallels Tools from here.
    3) Go to "My Computer" - "C" Drive - "Program Files" - "Parallels" folder and delete the "Parallels Tools" folder.
    4) Click the Windows "Start" menu -> "Run" and type "regedit". Hit OK.
    5) In Registry Editor, go to "My Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Parallels" and delete the "Parallels Tools" entry.

Now please install Parallels Tools manually:

    1) Go to MAC HD/ Library/Parallels/Tools/Prl-tools-win.iso.
    2) Double click on that file.
    3) You will have a file as Setup.exe.
    4) Copy the file and paste it in Windows Desktop. (you can also use a pen/flash drive for this purpose)
    5) Then run the setup.exe in Windows.
    6) you will be able to install Parallel Tools Perfectly.
