    So...

I installed Snow Leopard a couple weeks ago and found out shortly after that I could no longer open Parallels 3.0 on it. I now have a copy of 4.0 at my desk, but it is asking me to shut down Windows XP before I can continue with the installation of 4.0.

But I have no way of getting into 3.0 to shut down XP, where should I go from here?

No default location folder for me.

"the default location for virtual machine files is /Users/<Your_User_Name>/Documents/Parallels."

Not for me - I don't seem to have one there.

I have this folder in /Applications is this it? I have changed the name on that folder to "Parallels 3.0" but then if I restart the install the same "conflicting machines" window appears and then hangs. Also this time the Windows XP line is not shown.

If I change the name back to "Parallels" I am back to the original problem.
