Just upgraded to Snow Leopard on a late 2008 Macbook Pro 15. XP in a 4.0 VM starts up just fine. But now the keyboard is not recognized. Mouse works fine, but no way to type anything.
can't log on After upgrading to Snow Leopard, I can't log onto my virtual machine. It either tells me my username/password is wrong, or that the domain PPS is unavailable. How do I fix this? Thanks.
re: Can't log in I don't have any login problems, but then my XP account is purely local. From the symptoms you describe, it sounds as though you are logging into a windows domain. If so, then you may have networking issues. I'd check your Parallels network settings to make sure there is nothing funky going on.
Don't know why, but my keyboard problem went away after a couple of reboots. Next problem: MS office file associations seem to have gotten lost. .doc files no longer open in Word by default in OS X and Word doesn't show up as an option in "open with".
My keyboard functionality returned after one reboot also. File associations also lost but have managed to tell Mac to use Word and Excel for all files, turned share applications off and restarted Parallels then turned back on and all was ok. Only problem I now have is lack of drag and drop. Have mounted XP partition on desktop for time being to make slightly quicker. I use volume shared from a NAS box which Windows Guest OS always seems to take a kong time to find...much quicker in Leopard to save to desktop and drag drop over...currently not viable with Snow Leopard it would appear.
XP Fails After SL Install I just installed Snow Leopard and my VM of XP won't boot up at all. Parallels loads fine but my VM just cycles between startup, blue screen and the configuration mode request screen. No matter what I select, it repeats the cycle and won't boot up. Ideas?
