    Why does my Paralells 4.0 VM have such a long filename (see below)?

    /Users/Andre/Documents/Parallels/Microsoft Windows XP.pvm/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/Microsoft Windows XP (Backup)/.DS_St\"

    This is causing problems with an application I use an wondering if such a long filename for the VM is standard or is there something wrong with my installation ?

    There seems to be a string of backups that may or may not be required?

    I did not have any problems before upgrading from 3.0 to 4.0

    Can anyone try this ?

    There seems to be no response to my post above, but can anyone using version 4.0 kindly try the following and report what they find.

    Look at your Parallels folder found here:
    /Documents/Parallels/Microsoft Windows XP.pvm

    Then to see the contents of Microsoft Windows XP.pvm, do this:
    CONTROL-click & hold->Show Package Contents to reveal

    See if you have a string of "backups" like mine as seen above (this will really help).
    Thanks in advance

    Problem solved !!

    I compared my Parallels folders to a friend's and found that I had an extra folder called "Microsoft Windows XP (backup)" with countless sub folders (hence the long file name), so I simply moved this folder with it's sub folders to trash and Parallels works just fine without it.
