The Parallels window in modality view is as such that the lower right handle for changing the window size is off the screen. The green +toggle button does not work because it changes the window between sizes where the handle remains off screen. Repositioning the window does not work because I would need to move the window off the screen to the upper side, which does not work.

There are the OS X limitation that you cannot "grab&resize" the window from any side like you can to in Windows. And I googled this problem. However, the solution a) try to use spaces to position the Parallels window as such that the handle comes in reach, does not work, and b) down size the monitor resolution does also NOT work with Parallels - whereas all other applications windows get shrunk.

In essence, the OS X limitation and Parallel's unresponsiveness to the resolution "trick" results in the effect that I can no longer use the modality view.

I have the exactly same problem like BernhardB. My modality screen used to be very tiny so that I can check the status of VM conveniently while I am seeing other windows. Suddenly, the modality window gets too big and I cannot control the size of it.

Is there any solution for this? I am running Vista Ultimate SP 1 on Parallels 4.0 with Mac OS 10.5.8

    Yongbin Kim -

I only had a wacko work around : I used System Preferences to turn my monitor by 90 degrees. This made it possible to move the Parallels window off the screen in such way that the lower right side handle became visible. I then adjusted the window size and it - luckily - never switched back.

Again, a bit wacko, and since I could not physically turn my monitor, it felt a bit like video game since you need to hit the confirm button in a limited time.

But, it worked, to get resize the window.

I posted a reply some hours ago, which does not yet appear. I am not sure whether this is problem of Parallels administration or a technical glitch.

Anyway, I just wanted to note that I could help myself with a trick: if rotating the screen by 90 degree via System Preferences, you can most likely drag the Parallels window off screen in such a way that the lower right handle appears again and you can resize the window.

This is how I could solve it in my situation. Once the window was resized, the problem did not occur again.

The only down side: it is a bit like a video game, since you have to hit a button in limited time frame for the the setting not to reset immediately.

    Not elegant, but it worked!

    BernhardB,

Thanks for sharing your tip with me. Last night, I switched to Window mode and resized the window. Then I changed to Modality view and surprisingly, the size of the window was same as Window mode. So, I was able to shrink the window as small as possible in Modality view and my problem solved.
