Hey guys, I'm having several issues with XP SP2 in Parallels 3.0 build 5584 running on Mac OSX 10.5.7. Hopefully someone here can help and I would appreciate it greatly.

    1. First issue, the most annoying to me is the audio issue. Very frequently when I am running Parallels, the sound just totally cuts out. This actually mostly happens when I am using MSN to do voice chat. The sound, both input and output, goes out there then it stops working for the entire virtual machine. I have tried to change the Parallels settings to Built-In and Default settings, but it makes no difference, and yet Parallels says the audio is Active. It seems to happen randomly, where it works great for a day then totally stops working the next day. There is no hardware issue I can discern so I'm not sure what to do. My Macbook gets very hot, but I don't know if it is related to that, because the audio works fine in OS X.

    2. Secondly, there are times recently where XP gets all sticky for no apparent reason. I will open a program or perform some action, but the previous windows will stay on the screen and I have to drag the Parallels window around to make it clear up. Hopefully that makes sense. It gets laggy as well, and again, OS X is unaffected. I'm not sure what the deal is.

    3. Probably the most serious issue is the "kernel panics" or forced restarts of OS X (screen turns gray and it says i need to restart the computer) which seem to be caused by Parallels. It is mainly caused whenever I try to restart Windows within the virtual machine, and I believe when I try to Stop the virtual machine. I originally thought this was related to the heat, but I doubt that now.

I really have no idea what the issue could be, and I have been hesitant to upgrade to Parallels 4 because I hear it has some problems. From what I have read, it seems that this could be a networking issue but I don't know. And it has only started in the past few weeks, Parallels was fine when I installed it originally. If anyone has any advice or can provide assistance, again, it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Actually, I would suggest to create a ticket in our support line instead: http://www.parallels.com/support/request/
    The e-mail support is free.

As a general advise, I see that first two issues seem to be caused on a Windows side only and might be caused by overall Windows performance. I would suggest to check it when you would meet the issue again (i.e. via Task manager). You might wish to check the system for viruses as well.

For the kernel panics, it is a bit unclear, but first of all you could try performing a complete reinstall of Parallels Desktop as per the following guide:
