i can't open parallels. there r several issues here: 1) every time i start it send me this message: "Parallels Desktop failed to allocate the specified amount of memory. Please restart Parallels Desktop and try again. To avoid this problem in the future choose from the menu: Parallels Desktop > Preferences. On the Memory tab select the "Enable virtual memory preallocation" option." the vm preallocation is enable and still it gives the same message. 2) i need to open it so i can backup some files, so i could do a clean install (mac os side has problems, may affect vm). if i cannot open, can i save the whole vm from the mac side? how do i do that? i thank you in advance. you guys/girls are very efficient always. note: iMac24, intel 2.8, 3 gb ram, 300 hd, os 10.5
Hello, Please follow the steps below in regards to the issue: 1. Download the Cleanup Kernel Extensions (http://download.parallels.com/desktop/v4/en_us/parallels/update2/Cleanup-Kernel-Extensions.app.zip) utility to the Mac side and extract from the archive (to do this, please right-click on the file downloaded and select 'Open with -> Archive Utility.app'). 2. Run it. The utility will welcome you and inform that administrator password is required. 3. Supply the password. 4. The utility will inform you that obsolete kernel components are removed and suggest a reboot. 5. Reboot your Mac.
