There is a 1GB difference between what I get in the VM and what is used up the virtual harddisk

In my mac, the file "WindowsXP-0" is using 4.8GB while when I open this disk file using "Parallels Exlporer" the displayed NTFS volume shows that it is using 3.8 GB. Where is the 1 GB missing?

Virtual memory and system restore are disabled, already ran disk compression.

    Any hints would be appreciated.

Can you check the space one more way?
On the Windows side, righ-click on "My computer" and select "Manage".
We need the "Disk management", there is a full information on the disk space from the Windows point of view, could be a portion of unallocated space, for example.

Using the Disk management in the VM, I get the same size, and I can not see any unpartitioned space. More details in this screenshot: [IMG]

Can you then go to /Users/<username>/Documents/Parallels/, then right-click on the .pvm file and choose "Show package content". You would see an .hdd file inside, what is the size of it? You can also do the same with .hdd and see the package content as well.

The pvm file contains the file WindowsXP-0.hdd which in turn contains various files the biggest being a file called: "WindowsXP-0.hdd.0.{5fbaabe3-6958-40ff-92a7-860e329aab41}.hds" which has the size 4.87 GB. Since the pvm file is 4.88 GB, I suppose the rest of the files are rather small. Note that these values are when the VM is shutdown, so the problem is not due to the .mem file created during runtime.
