I'm trying to install Windows XP Professional on my MacBook Pro running Leopard. The install hangs at 36 minutes remaining. I have tried the tips to set acceleration to normal as well as disable with no change in the hang point. My windows log give the following message: Setup encountered the following unhandled exception: Exception C0000005 at address 76F6111C with the following parameters: 0000000006F005E.

    Solution anyone?

    Thanks.

    Hello Randolph,

Could you inform us the answers to the below mentioned questions.

    1. Is this Windows installation CD a Full version or an upgrade version ?
    2. Is this a retail copy or an OEM copy ?

Please reply us soon so that we could give you the resolution at the earliest.

    Resolution

In response to your inquiry, this problem was just resolved by Parallels tech support. They had me delete the virtual machine, set the acceleration in "configuration" to normal or disabled, and reinstall Windows XP. Doing this worked and I was able to install Windows XP Professional.

I have a DEll branded OEM bought about 2 years ago that I ran OK in Parallels 3. I have used Carbon Copy Cloner to keep an updated clone of my system.
My HD recently failed so I replaced it with a 320GB and restored everything. Windows could not access the internet at that point. I had already bought Parallels 4 but hadn't installed it yet so after a couple of frustrating hours I installed it.
During the VM conversion process it hung on "part 2" and I had a message that told me Windows needed to be validated. I finally stopped the VM, restarted it and the conversion hung again on "part 3". I quit my VM again restarted it and the conversion completed and installed Tools. After Tools were installed, I validated my OEM Windows over the internet which was working fine now.
I'm planning on buying a 13" MBP and I was going to buy another OEM Windows XP Pro but the retailer I bought the first one from told me it will not work with Parallels. So what's changed?
    Anyone know?

Actually there is never a guarantee OEM Windows would work with Parallels.
There is even an article about it: http://kb.parallels.com/en/5129
You can check for some additional information on what is OEM here.
