    Hi,

I have followed instructions below but when trying to run virtual machine in 3.0 it will not boot. When trying to use Parallels transporter it says no valid operating system or cannot make it bootable.

Any suggestions, 4.0 is just too slow?

To downgrade Parallels Desktop and your virtual machines perform the following:
Navigate to the folder with .pvm package (by default /Documents/Parallels/).
Ctrl+click it and select Show package contents.
Ctrl+click .hdd file and select Show package contents.
Copy .hds file to your Desktop for example, Ctrl+click it, choose Get info and rename it to winxp.hdd.
Uninstall Parallels Desktop 4.0. Install Parallels Desktop 3.0.
Launch the application, select New virtual machine (File -> New).
Choose Custom installation method. When asked about the hard disk option choose Using existing hdd and specify the path to the winxp.hdd file on the next window. You will be asked to confirm hard disk convert, confirm. On the last window click More options and uncheck Start Windows installation checkbox

The instructions seem to be the correct ones, one thing that I could imagine is that you did not uninstall Parallels Tools from your 4.0 version, that part seem to be missing.

Other than that, it would be useful if you could describe what exactly happens when you create a new VM based on a .hdd and launch it.
