I have just installed RHEL 5.3 but I cannot get the virtual machine to start. It gets to "relinquishing the VGA console" then the processor usage hits 99% and parallels freezes. It was originally installed with 2 virtual CPUs but when I switch to 1, essentially the same thing occurs, only Activity Monitor shows 100% CPU on one core and the virtual machine never boots. Is there a recommended configuration specific to RHEL? I am having a lot of trouble with Parallels freezing my machine because it cranks the heat up so much. I have 2 windows VMs that both work but processor usage on them is huge. I actually have to run vista with the cpu fan at 6000rpm on a laptop cooling plate to keep CPU temp at 70C.
Fixed This was corrected by going back to a previous version of Parallels. The retail CD prompted me to download version 4.0.3844.408822. However, I noticed that the package on the website is version 4.0.3844.408728. After a support email I uninstalled and reverted and RHEL booted.
